A line included in all my school reports.
But my love for a good chat has stood me in good stead throughout my career.
I started as a journalist working in Wales and Aberdeen: interviewing people from all walks of life, from senior politicians, heads of industry and trades union leaders, to bereaved families and seasoned campaigners.
I moved into public relations in 2000, and gained a wealth of agency and in-house experience across a range of industries.
And guess what, I’ve written lots (and lots) of copy.
And the name?
I often get asked about where the company name came from.
In fairness, it’s got little to do with copywriting, and a whole lot more to do with my surname.
Bydand, the Gordon clan motto, has at least two interpretations:
- From Middle Scots, meaning abiding or steadfast
- A contraction of the Scots phrase ‘bide and fecht’ meaning stand and fight
